Is Carrageenan Safe?

Carrageenan is a food additive derived from seaweed which is added to may “organic” foods.  I have seen it, for example, on the ingrediant label for the Applegate Organic smoked turkey I have been buying.  Recently I learned that there is evidence that Carrageenan causes inflammation.  As you know, inflammation is a factor in many health problems, including heart disease.  Here, you can read Dr. Andrew Weil’s informative post on Carrageenan. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA401181/Is-Carrageenan-Safe.html
