[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A few evenings ago we re-visited Nuevo Laredo, the always-busy Atlanta Staple, recently named one of the best Mexican restaurant in the United States. Located on the West side of Atlanta, Nuevo Laredo is hidden deep in the industrial district on Chattahoochee Avenue across the street from the Pepsi Bottling Plant.
Upon entering, you are immediately transferred to an alternate Mexican universe. Even at 8:00 p.m. on a Wednesday, the restaurant is overflowing, with parties waiting to be seated. Once seated, the wait staff seemed to be operating beyond capacity. We enjoyed our meal, with the highlights being the Chile con Queso and Guacamole appetizers and the Tampiqueña Steak. The rest of our food, including Shrimp, Pork Carne Asada and Chicken Mole Tacos, Shrimp Fajitas were well above avergae, but maybe not quite what we expect from this outstanding restaurant. We waited way too long for our Sopapilla dessert, which was lackluster, at best. When we departed at 9:30, the place was still packed.
- Chile Con Queso – BEST IN ATLANTA
- Carne Asada Tacos – Delicious
- Chicken Mole
- Tampiqueña Steak
Not 5 Star:
- Shrimp Fajitas – Good, but not 5 star.
- Pork Tacos – Pork’s dry, but the green sauce is great.
- Service – They are very busy, and seemed to be doing the best they could.
